The company is located in Verden (Aller), Lower Saxony, Germany, and was founded by four cooperatives representing farmers and cattle breeders from the regions of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Saxony.

MASTERRIND brings together around 8,000 members and operates one of the largest breeding populations in Germany and the second-largest in the world, including approximately 620,000 dairy cows and 20,000 beef cattle.
